VinoLuna is a lunar wine calendar — a simple utility, not a data business. This page explains, plainly, what the app and website collect and why.

Overview

VinoLuna ("the app," "the website," "we," "us") is published by Caleb Halkett, trading as Breezy Consulting. VinoLuna tells you whether today is a good day to drink wine, based on the moon's position in the zodiac. It does not require an account, does not have a login, and does not sell or share personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

This policy covers both the VinoLuna iOS app and the vinoluna.app website. Where their data practices differ, that's noted below.

02

What the iOS App Collects

The VinoLuna iOS app collects exactly one category of data:

DataWhyShared?
Approximate locationTo show your local city and region on screen, purely for display. Requested only "while using the app" — VinoLuna never asks for background location access.No. Location is resolved on-device using Apple's CoreLocation and geocoding services and is never sent to VinoLuna's own servers or any third party.

That's the complete list. The app does not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, health data, financial information, browsing history, or any identifier that could be used to track you across other apps or websites. There is no user account, no analytics SDK, and no advertising SDK built into the app.

If you decline location access, the app works exactly the same — you just won't see a city/region label next to the date.

03

Home Screen & Lock Screen Widget

VinoLuna's optional widget calculates today's day type using the same on-device calendar logic as the main app. It does not request location and does not communicate with any server — the calculation (the moon's position in the zodiac) is pure arithmetic based on the current date and time.

04

What the Website Collects

The vinoluna.app website is a separate product from the iOS app and has slightly different data practices, typical of a public website:

  • Location (optional, browser-based): if you allow it, the site uses your browser's geolocation and a free reverse-geocoding lookup (OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service) to show your city and country. This request goes directly from your browser to OpenStreetMap — VinoLuna's own servers never see your coordinates.
  • Analytics: the site uses Google Analytics (gtag.js) to understand aggregate traffic — pages viewed, approximate location by country/city, device type. This is standard, anonymised web analytics; it is not used to identify you personally.
  • Advertising: the site displays ads served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies to show relevant ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com.
05

Data Retention & Your Rights

Because the app doesn't create accounts or store personal data on our servers, there's nothing for us to retain, export, or delete on your behalf — nothing is collected in the first place beyond your device's momentary use of location for on-screen display. Website analytics data is retained by Google under their standard Google Analytics retention settings.

If you have questions about this policy or believe VinoLuna holds data about you that shouldn't exist, contact us — see the Support page.

06

Age & Alcohol Reference

VinoLuna is a wine-tasting utility and references alcohol as part of its core subject matter (biodynamic wine tasting). It is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. The app does not sell, serve, or facilitate the purchase of alcohol.

07

Changes to This Policy

If VinoLuna's data practices change — for example, if a future version adds an account system or new integrations — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
